UPDATE 18th August 2026

UPDATE 3rd August 2026
Appeals Closed.
Thank you to all our wonderful customers, business collection points and volunteers who have provided support, both by donating food/other items and money, to help animals in need, as a result of the Bordeaux Gironde fires.
Homeowners are now returning to their homes and rescues in the outer fire zones, of domestic animals have significantly reduced, with those continuing having sufficient food stuffs to cover needs.
Wildlife rescues, with specific dietary and medical needs are continuing.
We will collect the remaining donations from the collection points, plus, gratefully take in those donated by customers already prepared with donations, this week.
All food/item donations will be distributed to associations which helped take in rescued animals. They always need extra supplies and their stocks are seriously depleted following the extra intake of animals.
Monies donated:
All monies donated are being distributed to associations which helped with the domestic animal rescues and the wildlife association (LPO) to help with ongoing wildlife needs/costs during the coming period.
A more detailed post will follow, once we have completed distributions, financial and otherwise.
Once again, thank you thank you!
You have helped save so many animals through your generosity and kindness.

UPDATE 1st August 2026
Thank you all!!!
What an amazing response from our wonderful customers, supporters and their friends from around the world!
We have had lots and lots of donations of food and other items, plus generous donations of money, all to help animals affected by the wildfires in Bordeaux /Gironde.
All are being distributed, as required, to support associations rescuing the animals from the fire zones, or taking in the rescued animals.
During the last week, two van loads of items have been delivered to the fire zone and associations. Miss Marple Asso, Refuge Olèronaise, Refuge Bonbonnet, Cognac and volunteers working in the fire zones to distribute when passing animals on to carers.
Further deliveries will be made after our open day Sunday, where we will receive more collected items from our collection points and customers.
To end of Thursday 30th July, we have raised an incredible 1525€!!! All of this money is being used to support the rescue efforts of associations, helping provide, equipment, medical supplies, water, fuel for transport and more, plus will help cover vet bills for animals in need of specialist care.
In addition to your monetary donations, Hope 79 Pour les Animaux has already transferred 2500€ to a number of associations to help with the fire rescue and additional needs following evacuations.
As you will have seen in many social media posts, including those from Miss Marple Association, the fires are abating, which is allowing volunteers to receive permission to enter the worst affected zones, most certainly increasing the wildlife rescues, which in itself is a onerous task.
Needs will change over the coming days and our aid will adapt to those which reveal themselves.
None of the aid we are able to give could be done without you and the work you are doing to spread publicity, help collect and take in items and money!!
Special thank you to our volunteers, Laurence, Elisabeth and friends who have covered the deliveries to Bordeaux and other areas this week!
Also big thanks to Jess, who has collected from a number of our collection points and helped with communication of our appeals.
Everyone is doing what they can and it is heart warming to see communities and associations coming together to help animals so terribly affected by this tragedy.
Thank you all! You are amazing!

ITEMS NEEDED :
This is evolving given the needs of the rescue teams.
They are moving into coastal zones where they anticipate finding injured animals and in particular a large number of cats &kittens which fled the initial fires.
We continue to collect food items as previously noted and donations will be distributed to associations which are caring for extra animals rescued and any further needs of the rescue teams (see publicity images),
Now also required:
Puppy and kitten milk (can be purchased in format used for both, or for either – all welcome)
Dog and cat recovery food – a Royal Canine item – image attached. Should you wish to purchase this by amazon wishlist, please do so to be sent directly to Miss Marple Association, as per her posts, otherwise, monetary donations will help supply this item..
Cat harnesses and leads. Dog harnesses and leads (but less of a priority to cats)
Thank you all for everything you are doing to support this appeal. Without you and our wonderful volunteers, it couldn’t happen and the animals need every one of us to help at this time of trauma.

Hope 79 Pour les Animaux are delivering 2 pallets of food from a local wholesaler tomorrow morning to help with the food needs of rescued animals. (We have also made 2000€ donations so far towards associations actively helping save the animals).

Primarily, they are attending premises where domestic animals have been left behind or seen wandering streets. Also helping with any major evacuations of kennels, catteries, boarding etc.
Their priority need is food for the animals taken in.
So, Hope 79 Pour les Animaux is working alongside Miss Marple association, to organise a food collection, to be distributed amongst the associations and animals being saved from danger.
